About us
Electricians in West Dunbartonshire since 1979.
A family business built on trust, respect and going that extra mile for every customer.
1979
Where it started
Gerrard Devoy sets up as a sole trader with one ambition: an electrical service that works to a high standard and gives customers a consistent quality service.
Alger Electrics and Alarms Limited started out with Gerrard Devoy as a sole trader in 1979, with the ambition to provide an electrical service that works to a high standard and gives the customer a consistent quality service.
Over the years a reputation was established on this basis, and the company grew from a sole trader to the present day limited company, often employing between twelve and twenty people.
A family business, second generation.
Mr Devoy has since retired, and the business is now managed by his two sons, Gerrard and Michael, and his daughter Linda. The family have been brought into the business with the same standards, and both Gerrard and Michael trained with the SJIB in conjunction with SELECT.
Alger Electrics and Alarms always employs SJIB rated electricians, and our work is carried out to NICEIC standards through our long established membership of that body.
Customer service comes first.
Customer service is our number one priority, and over the years we have been fortunate to build excellent relationships with our customers. If we were asked for the main criteria of good customer service, we would break it down into three things.
Trust
Respecting your time constraints, and how our workmen treat your property while on site.
Respect
Including the working conditions and additional benefits we give our employees.
Extra mile
Emergency work comes in regularly. We prioritise, and keep you informed throughout.
We are proud of our achievements as a company and aim to keep building the business around excellent customer service. After all, without it we would not still be here decades later.
